Subjective/Objective argues that documentary photography today is remarkably vibrant and creatively thriving, despite the bleak financial picture and vanishing support from a publishing industry challenged by digital media. UNDER THE BRIDGE: PROJECTIONS OF A REVOLUTION

Curated by Elisabeth Biondi and Ernesto Bossan

An extensive collection of photographs and videos documenting the revolutions in North Africa, projected under the Manhattan Bridge Archway in DUMBO, underscored by music from DJ Awesome Tapes from Africa. In light of the deaths of Tim Hetherington, a dear friend of NYPH, and Chris Hondros the festival’s curators and organizers decided to dedicate Under the Bridge to all of the journalists who have lost their lives covering the turmoil in Libya, Egypt, Tunisia. The projection features the work of photographers from VII, Contrasto, Getty, Magnum, One Day on Earth, Panos, Redux, Reuters and other agencies and non-profit organizations, plus images shot by non-professionals. Hundreds of pictures are shown on four large screens in the Archway.
